Kansas traffic case, and Anthony Deus decides he's going to run it himself — sort
of. He won't even call it representing himself. He objects to being called "pro se,"
insists he's "in propria persona," and refuses the lawyer the court tries to give
him.
From there it's the full checklist. He wants his name read the "right" way, not in
all caps. He demands the prosecutor turn his camera on and "show himself on the
record." He keeps asking to see the sworn affidavit and the verified complaint. And
then the big one — he wants to know whether the case is being tried under admiralty,
maritime, equity, or a military tribunal. For three traffic tickets.
The judge answers the same thing every time: this is the 13th Judicial District
Court of Kansas, it's a traffic case, that's the jurisdiction. Eventually he tells
Deus straight up he's "way out there in left field" and needs to actually read the
rules before trial.
He still gets his jury trial. Just not the one he was picturing.
New clips every week.
