When the monsoon arrives, the earth smells of rain, the trees sway, the swings come alive — yet the heart still waits for the one who never came. “Saawan Aayo Re” is an earthy Indian Classical Rock journey through the beauty of the monsoon and the ache of birha. Inspired by the sounds and imagery of rural India — wet earth, kadamb trees, village courtyards, the panghat, peacocks, koel calls and the restless purvaiya — the song begins with an intimate Hindustani classical alaap and gradually grows into a powerful rock climax. Sitar, sarangi, bansuri, tanpura, tabla and pakhawaj meet atmospheric guitars, soaring electric guitars, deep bass and live rock drums. Everyone hears the rain.
