Two weeks ago we saw something really powerful line up on the charts. From flat to a 4- 5 meter swell overnight, we couldn’t miss it. But it would be gone as fast as it came, and with both school and work, we couldn’t make it to Gotland - where we could score something nuts - for one day of surfing. The night before, we drove in the dark through the rain north to a spot that could work. We woke up before dawn and the wind still hadn’t arrived, but the sea was flat. We had to change plans and made our way to another break. For an hour the sea remained calm. Then came severe gale wind, and 15 minutes later, head-high sets rolled through. Definitely not the full potential of the swell, but we were almost alone and clean swell lines curled in and broke nicely on the reef with hectic rain-mixed sideshore wind. After surfing ourselves out, Björn got dropped of at the bus for work and Carl-Fredrik started searching the coast for something extra. After climbing over a lot of slippery rocks, he eventually rocked up to something sick… A slabby right and a slabby left right by each other - waves that don’t exist until storms like these hit. But it was getting too dark for him to surf them alone and he had to turn back home. The Baltic is really violent this season; subscribe to see more!
