Norway Bike Trip, via Netherlands, Germany & Denmark

Norway via Netherlands, Germany and Denmark highlights Days 1 & 2 of the trip up to Norway, nothing much to see tbf as we spent the vast majority of time on the motorway! Day 1 was a short trip from Barnsley to Hull Port, a few beers on the ferry and a 527 mile from Rotterdam up through Germany and into Denmark. Temperatures were as high as 32oC in the Netherlands and Germany, however we encountered bouts of rain and lows of 13oC once in Denmark. The hotel in Vejle was decent and comfortable, however, we missed dinner and so decided to look for somewhere to eat, we happened to drop on a takeaway nearby and the pub across the road let us bring it so we could enjoy some ice cold drinks with it. After that it was lights out for an early start to get to the port Hirtshall to catch the ferry to Kristiansand in Norway 🇳🇴 Norway via Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Day 3: Morning run from Vejle to Hirtshalls then afternoon ferry to Kristiandsand then on to sinnes, Norway. Total mileage 300, temp, a cool 13oC with a few showers. Accomodation in Sinnes was decent with a huge garage for all 4 bikes. Restaurant was within easy walking distance which was handy. Day 4 of our Norway trip. Set off from Sinnes at 07:30, temperature was around 10oC, however it then dropped to around 5 oC on the way to Lysebotn Road, it was so misty and rainy that you literally couldn’t see your hand in front of you. We then headed through some fantastic scenery and took in four waterfalls on the way to our accomodation in Odda, however me and Phil inspected the digs and decided it was a big fat no, it did not meet our extremely high standard, plus we did not want to share with 14 others, let’s just leave it there. We happened upon a fantastic place in Jondal which was very comfortable and the staff put on an amazing feast with beers for a small fee. All in all a fantastic day, even the weather couldn’t spoil it! The breakfast at the digs was awesome, well presented and a great selection to chose from, full English style, continental, smoked salmon and fruit. Well worth the money. Day 5 the highlight was a cheese toastie for £12. We took in some of the spectacular mountain roads, we also visited the Stegastein Viewpoint. Norway day 6, a day of fjords, waterfalls and glaciers. 288 miles from Voss to Skjak incorporating 2 ferries in journey. Ending the day at the Reinheimen Lodge in a log cabin with a latrine outside. Decent meal and a few beverages thrown in for good measure. Norway Day 7 Early start from the Lodge, tricky gravel track to negotiate. We set off to the Raingervegen Skywalk, stunning views through the clouds, a very wet and cold 7 oC. We then took in some stunning views heading to the Trollstigen Road, stopped for a few pics the travelled along the Atlantic Road and onto the nights accomodation. The host was very generous and put us up a packed lunch for the morning with a drink and boiled egg! The accomodation was very comfortable, we missed dinner but had brought our own cheese and ham and made sandwiches, washed down with a few cool beverages! Temp at the end of the day was 14oC with rain all through the night. Day 8 of our Norway trip. Oksendal to Kongsberg, 342 miles in total, temperature on the mountain passes as low as 8oC rising to 23oC as we headed south. Great roads, especially through the mountains with great scenery to match. Topped it all off with a nice meal in a local restaurant with a few apple ciders courtesy of Phil and Rich. Day 9 & 10 of our trip up to Norway, the video shows the road home from Kongsberg Norway to the Europort, Rotterdam, then Rotterdam to home. A fantastic trip with three great guys, great hospitality, all very different accommodations and very changeable weather, ranging from 5 oC to 32oC. A total 3292 miles covered, we almost made it to the arctic circle but at a 5 oC minimum at Kristiandsund that was cold enough for me! Look forward to the next. Music by Green Day, Jesus of Suburbia
