ROMANS 11 — THE FAITHFULNESS, MERCY, AND WISDOM OF GOD Has God failed? Have His promises failed? What does Romans 11 teach us about Israel, the Gentiles, grace, mercy, and God's sovereign purposes? In Romans 11, Paul brings Romans 9–11 to a powerful conclusion. He reminds us that God has not rejected His people, that salvation comes by grace, and that God has graciously grafted in Gentile believers. He warns us against spiritual pride, points us to God's kindness and severity, and reminds us that God still has the power to save. Romans 11 also confronts us with the incredible faithfulness of God: “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Romans 11:29 (ESV) And when Paul reaches the end of this incredible chapter, theology becomes worship: “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” Romans 11:33 (ESV) In this message, we’ll explore: • God has not rejected His people • The remnant that exists by grace • The danger of confusing religion with saving faith • Salvation coming to the Gentiles • What it means to be grafted in • The kindness and severity of God • God’s power to graft people in again • The mystery of Israel • The irrevocable gifts and calling of God • Why mercy is the story of salvation • When theology becomes worship • What it means that all things are from Him, through Him, and to Him Romans 11 reminds us that when we cannot understand God’s plan, we can still trust God’s character. God has not failed. God’s promises have not failed. Salvation is by grace. There is no room for spiritual pride. God still has the power to save. His wisdom exceeds our understanding. And ultimately: “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36 (ESV) If this message encourages you or helps you better understand God’s Word, please LIKE the video, SUBSCRIBE to the channel, and SHARE this message with someone who needs to hear it.
