California employers: Are you still using an old layoff notice template? That could be a costly mistake. Starting January 1, 2026, SB 617 added new requirements to qualifying California WARN Act notices. Your notice now needs information about: ✅ Workforce transition coordination ✅ Local workforce board contacts ✅ Rapid-response services ✅ CalFresh benefits ✅ Your company's own contact information ⚠️ And remember: California WARN Act violations can potentially lead to $500-per-day penalties, back pay, and lost benefits. A timely notice can still be incomplete. Before announcing layoffs, update your template and have employment counsel review it. ⚖️ John Fagerholm explains what California employers need to know. 👍 LIKE for more employer updates. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE to DefendMyBiz. 📤 SHARE with your HR team. #Shorts #CaliforniaWARNAct #SB617 #CaliforniaLayoffs #CaliforniaEmploymentLaw #CaliforniaEmployers #HRCompliance #EmployerDefense #DefendMyBiz
