Pitlochry: Scotland’s Gateway to the Highlands | 4K Walking Tour | Natural Sounds

Pitlochry was the first stop on our driving tour through the Scottish Highlands, and it did not disappoint. Bagpipes, cottages, flowers, a church, and a distillery! We spent two days here and quickly fell in love with the charm of the town — the stone buildings, flower-filled streets, little shops and cafés, and the way everything slowly comes to life as morning turns into afternoon. One of our favorite surprises was seeing Pitlochry come alive on Monday evening for the local Highland Games. We loved hearing the pipes and drums echo through town as everyone made their way toward the festivities. It was one of those unexpected travel moments that made Pitlochry especially memorable — and such a fun introduction to the Scottish Highlands. And then there was the whisky. Blair Athol Distillery is right in town, so we wandered over for a tour and tasting. It was a fun — and very Scottish — way to end our time in Pitlochry. Two days here felt just right. Pitlochry was an easy drive north from Edinburgh, where we picked up our rental car, and the perfect place to begin our Scotland road trip. It also gave Michael just enough time to get comfortable driving on the wrong side of the road...
