Peaceful Sunday Walk in Chesterfield 🍂 Queen’s Park to the Crooked Spire | Historic England 4K

🍂 Join me for a peaceful Sunday morning walk through beautiful Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We begin among the autumn colours, calm water and wildlife of Queen’s Park, before making our way towards Chesterfield’s historic town centre. This is a relaxed walking experience with no unnecessary distractions — just the sights and natural sounds of the town on a quiet Sunday morning. Listen to the birds, footsteps and everyday sounds around us while taking in the changing autumn leaves, old streets and wonderful architecture. 🏘️ Along the way we explore The Shambles, one of Chesterfield’s most atmospheric historic streets. Its narrow layout and old buildings offer a little glimpse into the town’s past and provide a lovely contrast to the more modern streets around it. ⛪ Our walk eventually brings us to Chesterfield’s best-known landmark — the Church of St Mary and All Saints, famous around the world for its extraordinary Crooked Spire. The medieval church dates largely from the 14th century, while its remarkable timber-framed, lead-covered spire rises around 70 metres (228 ft) above the ground. Over the centuries the structure has twisted and leaned, creating the unmistakable shape that has become a symbol of Chesterfield.
