In this video from dry dock, I have explained the hull coating system used on ships. The underwater hull of the vessel was blasted to bare steel and a complete new coating system was applied. I explain the different types of marine paints used during dry docking including: • Epoxy primer coating • Tie coat application • Silicone foul release coating • Traditional biocide antifouling system • Anti-abrasion coating in parallel body areas • Special coatings used in sea chest and thruster tunnel areas Modern ships use advanced coating systems to reduce marine growth, improve fuel efficiency and protect the steel structure from corrosion. This video gives a simple explanation of how ship hull painting is done during dry docking and why different coatings are used in different areas of the ship. 📌 Subscribe to Josemon’s Clicks for more real ship videos and simple marine explanations.
