I sat down with my lucid dreaming "nemesis", Charlie Morley, after 10 years of beef. Can two opposite worldviews co-exist? For over a decade, Charlie and I have operated on opposite sides of the lucid dreaming world: my focus has always been on deconstructing the mind and stripping away unnecessary narratives and twaddle, while Charlie has built his work around a more traditionally themed approach, including Tibetan Buddhist dream yoga, Jungian shadow work, and symbolic archetypes. In this episode, we tickle a few of the uncomfortable questions from Charlie's perspective: Is Jungian shadow work a genuine psychological tool, just an expectational narrative, or something in between? Are we moving too fast with lucid dream healing and clinical dream therapy claims? And how does lucidity actually function when you have Aphantasia (no visual imagination) and SDAM? So today I interview fellow lucid dream teacher Charlie Morley, to get a feel for what his beliefs are behind the brand, and to discover if and where our views may overlap. A quick note: Charlie and I both discussed off-camera how for years we both described each other in our personal lives as "My Nemesis" - which gave us both a chuckle. This arose for a couple of reasons: we're both exploring this subject using different systems - think of it like Karate meets Kung Fu, or Tibetan Buddhism meets Zen - neither system is the "correct" system, just a different lens that appeals to different personalities. Equally, when we first took to the public stage, lucid dreaming had been rather stagnant for a decade, and by chance, we both released our books in the same year - leading to an inevitable friction and somewhat inevitable "rivalry". In the early days I found Charlie's approach a little too aligned with what I consider "woo" for my tastes, and me being me, I didn't bite my tongue. Understandably, this led to a little friction - or "beef" to use Charlie's words. While I'm sure we'll always have some fundamental differences in our opinions and approaches, I think we've both come to appreciate that different schools of thought can coexist, indeed need to coexist, to allow the subject to thrive. And while criticising ideas and frameworks is healthy - ideas are not the people who hold them. With that in mind, despite our differing viewpoints, I wanted to use this interview to give Charlie the full breathing space to fully articulate his ideas. So this isn't a debate, but a friendly interview exploring Charlie's perspective and a different school of thought. We also address the elephant in the room: the story behind our 2013 feud, how releasing books at the exact same time sparked a decade-long internet rivalry, and how we finally squashed it. --- 00:00 - The 10-Year Lucid Dreaming Rivalry 00:50 - Why Lucid Dreaming Practice Matters 03:03 - Tibetan Dream Yoga vs Western Lucid Dreaming 06:21 - Spiritual Gatekeeping & Esoteric Traditions 11:30 - Ethics & Morality in Lucid Dreams 13:48 - Jungian Shadow Work: Psychology vs Narrative 19:49 - Expectation Mechanics & Dream Symbols 25:12 - Beyond the Dream State: Non-Dual Lucidity 27:04 - Lucid Dreaming with Aphantasia (No Visual Imagination) 30:42 - SDAM, Memory, & Non-Visual Dreams 31:21 - Psychedelics & Aphantasia Exploration 32:23 - How to do WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dream) Without Visuals 34:31 - Clinical Lucid Dream Therapist Training 37:15 - Lucid Dreaming Therapy for PTSD & Nightmares 40:30 - Maintaining a Lucid Dream Practice 41:39 - How Parenthood Impacts Lucid Dreaming 45:20 - Analyzing Nightmare & Shadow Dreams 48:41 - Can You Learn Lucid Dreaming if You're Not Natural? 50:03 - Reality Checks & Mindful Awareness 52:40 - How We Resolved Our 10-Year Internet Beef 55:34 - The Future of Lucid Dreaming Collaboration KEY TOPICS COVERED: How to Lucid Dream / Lucid Dreaming Techniques (WILD, DILD, MILD) Aphantasia, SDAM, and Non-Visual Lucid Dreams Psychological Shadow Work vs Expectation Mechanics Tibetan Dream Yoga (Vajrayana Buddhism) & Esoteric Practices Clinical Lucid Dreaming for PTSD & Nightmare Rescripting Metacognition, Dream Control, and Mindful Awareness --- RESOURCES & LINKS: Explore lucid dreaming: https://www.thelucidguide.com Become a channel member:    / @luciddreamingteacher   Charlie Morley’s Website & Retreats: https://www.charliemorley.com/ #LucidDreaming #LucidDream #Aphantasia #ShadowWork #DreamYoga #LucidDreamingTechniques #CognitiveScience #DanielLove #CharlieMorley
