"Keel Row" "Because He Was a Bonnie Lad": Lowland pipes

It's been difficult to find the time to play pipes, so here are a couple of old standbys that Kat and I used to frequently play with our friend from Morpeth, Wally Bell. These two tunes are well known on both sides of the Border. The first refers to the keel boats that freighted coal down the Tyne river through Newcastle, Northumberland. The accompanying song celebrates the singers good fortune in having a keel man, who is a mighty rower. No euphemism there. The second is another melody attached to a flirtatious song. The pipes were made by Ray Sloan, an absolute master pipe maker. The chanter is in Bb. I need to get it out more often. Thanks for listening.
