An Ancient Town Beneath Mount Emei | 2 Days from Gaomiao to Liujiang

Exploring the Ancient Towns Hidden Among Three Mountains Day 1: Gaomiao Ancient Town, nestled deep between Mount Emei, Wawu Mountain, and Yuping Mountain, dates back to the late Ming Dynasty. Famous for its traditional white spirit distilleries, this old town is filled with historic wooden houses and rarely sees any tourists. Wandering through these quiet, uncommercialized streets, I picked up some fresh ingredients at a local market. Afterward, I stopped at a nearby highway service area to cook a simple dinner and rest for the night. Day 2: Liujiang Ancient Town, built during the Southern Song Dynasty, sits with its back against Mount Emei and Wawu Mountain. Known as a water town wrapped in misty rain, Liujiang features giant ancient trees and a river flowing right past the doorsteps.
