“Can anyone truly live in a world without love?”
The Masquerade is the English-language gothic metal adaptation of my poem Maszkabálban — a dark, theatrical tale of a magnificent celebration hiding a kingdom’s grief.
Behind the masks, the court dances beneath blazing chandeliers while every window remains tightly closed. A sorrowful king walks upon a crimson carpet, mourning the queen he has lost, as his people command him to rejoice. The music plays, the dancers smile, and yet not a single soul dares to look beyond the splendour.
At the heart of the masquerade stands a woman in scarlet — the only one willing to lower her mask and see the truth concealed beneath the celebration.
Combining powerful female vocals with a dramatic gothic metal atmosphere, The Masquerade explores grief, loneliness, hidden emotions and the emptiness of a beautiful world from which love has disappeared.
