I watched Odysseus lose twelve ships, every man he had, and twenty years of his life on the way home from Troy. Homer blames the crew. I was there. It's more complicated than that. This is the whole Odyssey, start to finish, the way I saw it: the Cyclops Polyphemus, the bag of winds, the witch Circe, the land of the dead, the Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis, the cattle of the sun, and the long road back to Ithaca. I can't change any of it. Believe me, I've tried. Here's what you'll see: The moment he shouted his full name at a son of Poseidon. I asked him not to. What was inside Aeolus's leather bag, and who couldn't resist opening it How a fleet of twelve ships became one man clinging to a broken mast What his mother told him in the land of the dead Argos, the dog who waited twenty years The bed test, and why Penelope didn't run to him Whose fault it really was. Homer has his answer. I have mine. Everything here comes from Homer's Odyssey. Where I disagree with him, I'll say so. He wasn't there. I was. I have a lot more myths to tell. I remember all of them. #Odyssey #GreekMythology #Odysseus #Mythology #Homer #Cyclops #Polyphemus #Circe #Sirens #Ithaca
