How to introduce side reins correctly to teach your horse to take the contact

One of the biggest problems out there when it comes to the use of side reins is that they're adjusted too short for the horse. It forces contact upon the horse. This forced contact blocks the horses movement of the hindlegs. the back and makes it harder for the horse to lift the front. This is all something you don't want for a horse with a kissing spine. You want the horse the step under with the hindlegs, push the spine up and push the nose forward and out.
