Elena Davydova & Brazil

This video is somewhat legendary: I became curious after learning that, a long time ago, a famous foreign gymnast had performed a very memorable solo to the song 'Aquarela do Brasil. It was very difficult to find out who it was and I only found the video on YouTube, because someone from Japan had recorded it on videotape. I decided to make another video, because the original had a very muffled sound. I chose another version of the same song and, due to small differences, it took a bit of work to edit it; but apart from a few changes I made at the beginning, the rest harmonized like a glove. I used a Portinari painting to make a mosaic of the gymnast's presentation. The Russian Elena Davidova was part of what is considered the greatest Olympic gymnastics team of all time. In addition to her, the team included names such as Nellie Kim, Natalia Shaposhnikova, Maria Filatova and Stella Zakharova. In the past, gymnastics was much more artistic and each athlete would perform up to 4 different solos in a competition. Davidova used 'Aquarela do Brasil' as one of these solos at the Moscow Olympics. She won the gold medal in the All Around, beating Nadia Comanecci and Natalia Shaposhnikova. * Esse vídeo é um tanto q lendário: fiquei curioso após saber que, muito tempo atrás, uma ginasta estrangeira famosa havia feito um solo bem marcante com a música 'Aquarela do Brasil. Foi muito difícil descobrir quem era e só encontrei o vídeo no youtube, pq alguém do Japão havia feito o registro em videocassete. Resolvi fazer outro vídeo, pois o original estava com som muito abafado. Escolhi outra versão da mesma música e, por conta de pequenas diferenças, deu um pouco de trabalho fazer a edição; mas tirando alguns enxertos q fiz de início, o resto de harmonizou como luva. Usei um quadro de Portinari p fazer um mosaico de apresentação da ginasta. A russa Elena Davidova fez parte da considerada maior equipe de ginástica olímpica de todos os tempos. Além dela, o time contava com nomes como Nellie Kim, Natalia Shaposhnikova, Maria Filatova e Stella Zakharova. No passado, a ginástica era bem mais artística e cada atleta chegava a apresentar 4 solos diferentes numa competição. Davidova usou 'Aquarela do Brasil' como um desses solos nas Olimpíadas de Moscou. Ela ganhou a medalha de ouro no All Around, superando Nadia Comanecci e Natalia Shaposhnikova.
