BENG BENG BENG is a fiery dark-cabaret tale about a violinist who has played in every tavern from the river to the road, receiving the one thing she cannot bear: polite applause. One night, a mysterious man dressed entirely in black sits beside her violin case. His name is Beng, and he offers her the power to make every room remember her. There is only one condition: after her final song, her soul will belong to him. She accepts. The following night, her violin brings an entire tavern to its feet. People dance on tables, offer her jewels and call her a miracle. But when Beng returns at dawn to collect his payment, she notices the one weakness in their agreement. If her soul belongs to him after her last song… Then she will simply never stop playing. Driven by furious violin, cimbalom, accordion, double bass and accelerating percussion, BENG BENG BENG is a darkly playful story about ambition, temptation and the dangerous price of being remembered. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LYRICS I had played every tavern from here to the river, and people clapped— politely. That was the worst part. There was always someone faster, someone louder, some bastard at the next table who could make them forget I was even there. Then one night, a man dressed all in black sat beside my violin case. He said, “You want them to remember you?” I said, “Yes.” He smiled. “There is a price.” I told him, “There always is.” Beng, Beng, Beng— make my fingers fly. Beng, Beng, Beng— make the whole room cry. I wanna play better than any man, man, man. Give me your fire— come on, if you can, can, can. The next night I lifted the bow and somebody dropped a glass before I’d finished the first bar. By the second, they were standing. By the third— dancing on the tables. A woman threw me her necklace. A man offered me his horse. Someone kissed my hand and called me a miracle. I thought: Oh, Beng… you beautiful bastard. Beng, Beng, Beng— make my fingers fly. Beng, Beng, Beng— make the whole room cry. I wanna play better than any man, man, man. Give me your fire ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Electric Dark Cabaret for original musical stories where electronic music, gothic theatre, satire and dark cabaret collide. #ElectricDarkCabaret, #BengBengBeng, #DevilsViolin, #DarkCabaret, #ElectroCabaret
