New episodes will be released regularly, so be sure to subscribe. This lesson is all about being able to use the modes. The first step in using the modes is simply to be able to identify them (in all keys). Then, practice creating modes out of all chords in a tune. This will completely change your piano playing and improvisation. I use the Pachelbel Canon as a training template. It's great to use because all the chords are diatonic (from the major scale). That means it is very easy to play in all keys. I suggest that you throroughly learn the Pachelbel chord progressions in all keys. First, develop a natural and automatic ability to play 3 against 2 and 2 against 3. Then, create simple melodies using duple, triple and 3 against 2. It's totally important.
