Friday night at a Night Market in Victoria Park. I encountered three different former writing students. Only one meeting was intentional: she's involved in a larger collaborative project with me, and we met at the market, before and after sunset. In between, we went with her partner to a nearby coffee shop to discuss related matters. The city provided bonus entertainment, in the form of two guys in a Tesla who drove by about ten times, apparently cruising, 1962 style... in a Tesla. Later, I walked home via the main drag, and saw them again. University and college start up in earnest this coming week, and the route was alive with intoxicated students and other partiers and bargoers clearly unprepared for the sudden drop in temperature. A pack of motorcycles drove by, engines roaring. Three young women in black minidresses passed by, hugging themselves against the cold.
