Marvel Casting Director on Why Robert Downey Jr. Was Right for ‘Iron Man’ | Sarah Halley Finn

What makes an actor right for an iconic role? Longtime Marvel casting director Sarah Halley Finn looks back on some of the franchise’s defining choices, from Downey and Tom Holland to Pom Klementieff’s unexpected take on Mantis, and shares how she looks beyond an actor’s résumé to recognize what they could bring to a role. Finn also takes us inside the casting of “Wild Horse Nine,” including what she saw in pairing John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. She talks about building ensembles, making bold audition choices, and what actors can do in self-tapes and auditions to get a casting director’s attention.
