Who Is REALLY Driving the Future of Electronic Drums?

Roland, Yamaha and Alesis have dominated the electronic drum market for years. But are smaller innovators like EFNOTE, DruML and Sensory Percussion challenging the established manufacturers and changing the future of electronic drums? In this video, we look at some of the different approaches companies are taking to electronic drum innovation — from realistic playing feel and machine-learning triggering to low-volume cymbals and new ways of interacting with electronic instruments. But innovation is only part of the equation. We also explore the business and practical challenges of bringing new technology to market, including compatibility, distribution networks, customer support and the confidence required to spend thousands of dollars on an electronic drum kit. I'll also share why I ultimately chose Roland after seriously considering the EFNOTE 7X.
