The Jamaican Easter Bun was developed from the British tradition of Hot Cross Buns and over the years has become this wonderfully tasting pastry spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon and mixed spice. It is traditionally eaten with cheese and is very popular at Easter where it is eaten on Good Friday morning for breakfast as the day is held in reverence and no fire was lit until after noon for some and after 3pm for others as this was symbolic of the time of day Jesus was crucified.
