Wrongfully Convicted at 17, Attorney Today Feat. Jeffery Deskovic

Jeffrey Deskovic was 17 years old when he was wrongfully convicted and sent to a maximum-security prison. He would spend the next 16 years fighting to prove his innocence. DNA testing eventually led to Jeffrey's exoneration and identified the actual perpetrator. But his relationship with the justice system didn't end when he walked out of prison. Jeffrey became an advocate, earned his bachelor's and master's degrees, founded the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice, went to law school, and became a practicing attorney. In this episode of You Are a Lawyer, Jeffrey talks with Kyla Denanyoh about surviving wrongful incarceration, maintaining hope through years of appeals, returning to school after his exoneration, and why he ultimately wanted a seat at the defense table.
