Here's a look inside Rod & Staff level 4 History/Geography (Homelands Around the World). It has some chapters that are an instructional-style, but most are living stories about people in a particular country. There is a student text and teacher's manual. The teacher's manual has small pages of the student text in it, so it is easy to follow along and see the answers to the questions found at the end of each chapter. You can also purchase a separate test booklet (the answers to that are found in the teacher's manual). I've been using it as a supplement to our geography deep dives, reading whichever chapter is from the country we're studying. So far we've read Japan, Antarctica, and Africa. There are pictures, and although most are not in color they are beneficial. It also has blank maps that you can copy and use for the included map work or for other exercises that you want your student to do.
