Climate Change, GBV & Gender: What Are We Missing? | 5th International Women & Gender Studies Conf. I am pleased to share my presentation and discussion from the 5th International Women and Gender Studies Conference, Malaysia, where I presented my research and reflections on Gender, Climate Change, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and emerging challenges in Gender Studies. Climate change is not gender-neutral. It can intensify existing inequalities and create new forms of gender-based violence, insecurity, displacement, harassment, and exclusion, particularly for marginalized women and gender-diverse communities, including transgender and LBQTI+ people. In my discussion, I highlighted some important and still underexplored areas in gender research, including: The intersection of climate change and GBV among gender-diverse and non-binary communities Climate-induced vulnerabilities experienced by marginalized women Emerging forms of technology-facilitated gender-based violence The potential role of Artificial Intelligence in creating new forms of gendered violence The importance of intersectional and feminist approaches to climate and gender research Centering the lived experiences, knowledge, agency, and coping strategies of marginalized communities in developing solutions A key message from my presentation was that researchers need to move beyond researching about marginalized communities and increasingly conduct research with and from the perspectives of those experiencing climate stress, violence, and exclusion. Research should not only document vulnerability—it should listen to marginalized voices and centre their knowledge and agency in developing solutions. 📍 Event: 5th International Women and Gender Studies Conference 🌏 Location: Malaysia 🎤 Focus: Gender, Climate Change, GBV, Intersectionality & Emerging Gender Research Gender Studies, 5th International Women and Gender Studies Conference, Malaysia Gender Conference, Climate Change and Gender, Climate Change and GBV, Gender Based Violence, GBV, Feminist Research, Feminist Political Ecology, Gendered Climate Vulnerability, Intersectionality, Gender Justice, Climate Justice, Indigenous Women, Marginalized Women, Transgender Rights, Non Binary Communities, LBQTI, LGBTQI, Gender Diverse Communities, AI and Gender, AI and GBV, Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence, Digital Violence, Participatory Feminist Research, Gender Research, Climate and Gender, Women and Gender Studies
