In this animation, Dr. Eric Laywell, Associate Professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine, discusses how injury to the gluteus medius and minimus muscles can result in Trendelenberg Sign, a gait in which the patient leans toward the side of the injury. In the animation, Dr. Laywell explains the mechanics of joint movement and clarifies common misconceptions about the Trendelenberg Sign, and demonstrates clinical assessment of the gluteal muscles.
