The John Muir Way and John Muir Link, Day 1

12 fantastic days walking across the breadth of Scotland on the 134-mile John Muir Way, from Helensburgh to Dunbar, and then the 10-mile John Muir Link southwards down the coast to join up with the end of the Southern Upland Way in Cockburnspath. This trail incorporates some amazing scenery, walking along the Antonine Wall, cruising along the Forth & Clyde and Union canals, emerging unscathed from the notorious Falkirk Triangle, visiting the Falkirk Wheel and Edinburgh and finally enjoying the beautiful coastal scenery between Edinburgh and Dunbar. This marks the completion of a monumental task that I set myself many years ago, to join up my continuous footsteps all the way from Land’s End to Inverness, something that involved a total of 17 long-distance trails.
