The course was doing what it does best. 📋 A few things worth knowing about Modderfontein Golf Club: • Founded in 1935 by the Modderfontein Dynamite Factory — at the time the world's largest dynamite company • The course was officially opened in February 1939 with South African golf legend Bobby Locke as the celebrity guest • Originally designed by Arthur Tomsett and later redesigned by Modderfontein's most famous member — South African golfing great Hugh Baiocchi • The redesign incorporated 7 dams and 12 meandering streams — water comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes • A challenging par-72 parkland layout stretching 6,914 metres from the club tees • Consistently ranked in South Africa's Top 60 courses and hosted over 40,000 rounds annually • The Gautrain runs past the top end of the course near the picturesque par-3 14th No commentary.
