I'm a French guy and today a Chinese girl took me inside a Buddhist temple for the very first time. I had no idea what to expect and trust me, nothing could have prepared me for what we found inside. From wealth gods and incense rituals to intimidating red statues, secret ceremonies and monks you can actually hire to pray for you (yes, really), this place had more layers than I ever imagined. And just when I thought the day couldn't get any more surprising, she made me eat something at dinner that I was absolutely not ready for.
