This footage is from the "Bama's Greatest Games" series. The 1-7-1 Auburn Tigers and the 5-4-1 Alabama Crimson Tide met at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL. This was the first meeting between Alabama and Auburn since 1907, when the rivalry series was discontinued due to on-field and in-stadium violence at the 6-6 tie in 1907, as well as disputes on where to find officials, per diem allowances for players, and how many players to field for the game. In 1947, the Alabama state legislature threatened to withhold funding from the two universities unless they played one another in an annual football game, and the Iron Bowl was renewed. This is also notable for being the largest margin of victory in Iron Bowl history.
