The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield just climbed above 5.3%, its highest level in decades, and that one number is starting to affect everything from mortgages and corporate borrowing to government debt and stock valuations. In this video, I break down why bond yields are rising, why strong economic growth can actually make the problem worse, how inflation, government borrowing and the AI investment boom are all competing for the same pool of capital, and what happens if expensive money becomes the new normal. We also look at why mortgage rates are back above 7%, how higher refinancing costs can pressure companies and real estate, why the U.S. government is spending around a trillion dollars a year on interest, and whether this is a temporary spike or a much bigger shift in how the financial system prices money.
