1944, December. We're cut off from the rest of the German Army and encircled. To the East and South is the Soviet Red Army, to the West and North... the Baltic Sea. The Latvians called it Kurzemes Katls, the Kurland Kettle; the Germans called it Festung Kettle: Fortress Kurand.
