In 1970-71 and1972 I went to several villages about Soko Banja and recorded music, info about weddings, and dance. I also saw dance groups from there perform at various festivals. In this case, June 2, 1972, I and my friend Steve Kotansky filmed a group of older villagers from s.Mužinac and some young students from the People's Univ. of Soko Banja. They were there to perform on stage at the 1st Serbian Sabor Narodnog Stvaralaštva. We filmed them on stage, but we also were able to film them later in a nice grassy area by the dormitory which they were staying in. The music for their dancing was provided by gajdaš (bagpipe player) Todor Ivanović from s. Resnik. (Note: In 1973 or 74 I issued an LP of villagers singing in "na glas" and "na bas" styles, and instrumental music on bagpipe, flute, accordion. I also issued a booklet music transcriptions, song texts, dance directions in English and in Labanotation. (by Mark Levy, Elsie Dunin, and myself.) Both the booklet and the LP (and later, a CD) were titled "Traditional Songs & Dances from the Soko Banja Area". Bob Leibman
