Cost Management is the process of estimating product unit cost during the design & manufacturing phase and forecasting cost changes throughout the life cycle to ensure design meet the target. The process provides guidance for cost-effective product design by correlating information from CAD/BOM with costing data from multiple sources such as PLM, ERP, or Project Management. Costs can be related do the products (Cost Intelligence) and also to the single parts (Sourcing & Standardization Intelligence).
