Here's the last license run I once again have for now, this time for S-6. Using a Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca at Laguna Seca Raceway. This test is actually quite deceptively challenging. Next to S-8, this is probably the most frustrating license run I've done yet. Just getting the gold isn't all that bad, but I've been at it off & on all day today trying to get a lap I'm satisfied with. I had a previous run that was a 1:15.601, but I was hesitant to post it as it was a rather sloppy run and I figured I could do better if I could clean that up. It's taken me all day to get to this point but I finally managed to beat it with a 1:15.28 averaging 108.84 MPH. Over 1½ seconds faster than the gold target time of 1:16.8 on both NTSC and PAL versions. I didn't know if I was ever gonna beat my previous record or not. Completed sector 1 two tenths ahead of my previous record at a 20.3 only to lose it all and then some in just one corner to fall a tenth behind my previous run at a 37.1 to complete sector 2. Definitely didn't think I was gonna beat it then. But I managed to gain that tenth back through the corkscrew tying me back with my record at a 55.6 before the end of sector 3. And then I really clutched up big at the end before the finish line taking the last 2 turns almost perfectly, the turns which I tend to struggle with most, gaining over 3 tenths to finally pull this off. To get gold here, you have to get extremely bold with your driving and run every corner real hard despite the fact that there's sand everywhere that can cause you to fail instantly. Of course you're in a high powered race car with about 600 HP so throttle control is an absolute must in the low speed corners. Particularly the first 180 degree hairpin, the corkscrew, and the tight left hander at the very end. The corkscrew becomes much easier if you use manual transmission and just stay in 3rd gear through it. This test is the ultimate example of practice makes perfect. You'll just have to memorize each corner & and the speeds to take each one at & where to brake for them to truly master this test.
