A radial side wrist pain after trauma if associated with tenderness in the anatomical snuff box could indicate a scaphoid fracture. Patient should have immobilization of the wrist and be treated as if a scaphoid fracture is present. Repeat the x-rays in 10 days. De Quervain’s syndrome •Inflammation of the sheath or tunnel that surrounds the two tendons that control movement of the thumb. Pain and swelling over the thumb side of the wrist and difficulty gripping. Intersection syndrome •Pain from intersection syndrome is felt on the top of the forearm where two muscles that connect to the thumb cross over the underlying wrist tendons. Extensor tenosynovitis •Irritation of the tendons located in the fourth extensor compartment Snapping ECU syndrome •Painful “snap” over the ulnodorsal aspect of wrist with rupture of the ECU subsheath in the 6th dorsal compartment. Extensor tendon rupture with nondisplaced fracture of the distal radius. Vaughan Jackson syndrome •Inability to extend the MP joints of the ring and small fingers due to extensor tendon rupture beginning on the ulnar side of the hand and wrist.
