Is it the dream life I always wanted to live? No. But does it serve a purpose in my overall life journey? In my opinion: yes. That doesn't mean some days aren't tough. As you'll see during the video, this day wasn't an easy one, and I'll show you my raw thoughts as I'm experiencing it. While jobs in Tech Sales can come with a lot of stress and responsibility, they're also a great way to build a solid base for your life. Where else is it possible to earn 150/200k+ as a guy in your mid twenties? I'm well aware of the privileged situation I'm in and don't take it for granted. Nonetheless, some days it's tough when you wake up with so many dreams and ideas you'd like to pursue, but end up spending the rest of your day working on tasks that.. Well (I hope my manager doesn't read this) just don't matter to me, or honestly, to most of the people around me either. That said, the last few years in Tech Sales have made me grow exceptionally, and as you'll see through my reflections in the video, I've learned the dynamics of corporate sales in the Tech world quite well. I'm confident I've developed a skillset over the past 4 years that will enable me to live a successful life. Tech Sales teaches you the realities of the world we live in - how people's minds work, how to win trust and pitch someone a solution, how to negotiate, create urgency for purchasing decisions, and finally close deals. It's not as hard as it might appear from the outside. In the end, the people in Tech Sales aren't rocket scientists or super intelligent, highly ambitious engineers. It's mostly average people who value money and are willing to take a lot of shit to get it. Nothing wrong with that, but cold calling, pitching, and talking to prospects and customers teaches you, unapologetically, how random and cruel making it in this world can be. It's not all sexy and glamorous like people might portray it on social media. In the end, making money is pretty unsexy and simple.
