A general description of the tsuba/ fitting set variation provided during our correspondence in ordering a sword, by Mr. Young Gong of Ryan Swords tsuba set materials: T-1**, This is a kind of zinc alloy. This kind of material is not very strong but is easily made into different patterns (by mould), so this kind of tsuba is cheap. T-2**, Plain iron. strong and not expensive. T-3**, Copper alloy, nice pattern but much stronger than zinc alloy. T-4**, Iron, plating severl layers(2-3) and then etched different pattern. strong and looks exquisite. T-6**, Copper, engraved with different tridimensional pattern. This is also the most expensive tsuba. You may contact Ryan Sword at www.ryansword.com.
