Wavefunctions as a Basis

By using linear combinations of the 1D PIB wavefunctions, we can construct any function that obeys the particle-in-a-box boundary conditions. The same is true more generally: an orthonormal set of wavefunctions can be used as a basis to construct any other function obeying the same boundary conditions.
