For most people, Tetris is a simple puzzle game. For an extraordinary group of record-breaking players, it is an obsession that has taken decades to master. Ecstasy of Order: The Tetris Masters follows some of the world’s greatest competitive Tetris players as they prepare for the inaugural Classic Tetris World Championship. From Thor Aackerlund’s legendary victory at the 1990 Nintendo World Championships to Harry Hong’s seemingly impossible “Max-Out” score, the documentary explores more than two decades of records, rivalries, strategy, and dedication. As the competitors finally meet face-to-face, they must control their nerves, reveal the techniques behind their remarkable scores, and discover who truly deserves to be crowned the ultimate Tetris master.
