In 1921, Dutch Anderson and Gerald Chapman became fugitives after a major mail robbery involving more than $1 million in securities.
They were eventually captured and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
But they didn't stay there.
On March 27, 1923, Anderson and Chapman escaped from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary by cutting the prison's power lines and climbing over the wall.
For the next two years, Anderson remained on the run.
Then came October 31, 1925.
In Muskegon, Michigan, police officer Charles Hammond confronted Anderson. A gunfight followed, and both men were killed.
This is the story of Dutch Anderson — the fugitive whose final run ended in a Michigan street.
