The Top 30 songs with 5 extras by Supertramp, Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band, The Babys, The Kings and Manhattan Transfer from the 1980 singles charts of Billboard and Cash Box magazines for weeks ending December 6, 13, 20 and 27. Unlike for my books, Ranking the ‘60s and Ranking the ‘70s (with Bill Carroll), in which a weighted ranking system was used, I used a simple reverse ranking system, assigning 1 point to No. 30, 2 points to No. 29, etc. I kept it simple since we’re dealing with four weeks rather than a longer duration, like a year. *1980 Rank given to the three songs leaving the charts is an average of those songs’ year-end rankings from Joel Whitburn, Fred Bronson, Bill Carroll and Cash Box magazine.
