Psa. 33:12-18 What joy for THE NATION whose God is the LORD, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. The LORD looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—for all its strength, it cannot save you. But the LORD watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love.
Does God have a destiny for America? If Yes, then what is the church’s responsibility to that destiny? Is God’s covenant of Grace only for Israel, or were they a model of covenantal response for all nations to consider?
Gal. 3:6-8 …Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”
The Abrahamic Covenant predates Israel and is geopolitical. Faith and obedience to that covenant made them God’s people long before they forged a national identity.
Jesus said, He is a Jew who is one inwardly by faith, and not outwardly by descendancy. Those covenantal elements are transethnic and transnational. Therefore National Destiny rests in the People and leaders keeping faith with God through covenant.
Gen. 17:4, 16 As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of MANY NATIONS…(And as for Sarah) And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of NATIONS…
God can choose to favor and raise up nations other than Israel…
Jer. 18:9-10 And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.
Since salvation through Jesus has come the Body of Christ has become the children of Abraham by faith, spread throughout the nations…1Pet. 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy NATION, a people of his own…
So Christians are God’s Nation among the nations. BUT what happens when they become more than just a separate people living in a nation, but become the very pioneers of a nation, and dedicate it’s founding upon their faith and service to their covenant with God? That nation is then part of their covenant with God. And their citizenship becomes a stewardship accountable to God.
2Chron 7:14 and If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal THEIR LAND.”
The Treaty Of Paris that ended the American Revolution with England was entitled, “In The Name Of The Most Holy & Undivided Trinity”. The American Constitution IS a Covenant with God. It appeals directly to God for His favor, declares rights derived from God’s Word, and commits it’s constituents to honoring God if the Covenant is to be kept.
Our Constitution is 237 years old. Since its writing the average lifespan of constitutions throughout the world is 17years. As long as Christians claim the benefits of the Constitutional Covenant they are accountable to participate in upholding it.
That makes the pastors who refuse to bring politics into the pulpit, guilty of abandoning their responsibility to God for their members. That accountability falls under Jesus’ Salt & Light mandate to disciples.
Sir John Glubb’s famous essay, The Fate Of Empires charted the history of the world’s empires over the past 3,000 years and found that the average superpower lasted only 250 years before its collapse. He also identified 6 stages every great empire passes through before its end:
1. The Age of Pioneers — A small, energetic people burst onto the world stage with sudden courage and vision.
2. The Age of Conquests — Through military victories and territorial expansion the nation becomes dominant.
3. The Age of Commerce — Wealth pours in through enterprise and trade, and the standard of living rises dramatically.
4. The Age of Affluence — Success breeds comfort as luxury replaces sacrifice as the national value.
5. The Age of Intellect — Education and ideas flourish, but drift from moral and spiritual foundations.
6. The Age of Decadence — The nation turns inward. Moral confusion, political division, entertainment obsession, and the corruption of institutions define the era. This is the terminal stage.
We are at Stage 6. But there is a 7th Stage for a Covenant Nation if we can reach it: The Age of Repentance & Revival!
America is experiencing a revival of repentance, and renewing the Faith of our Pilgrim Fathers! We are fighting back against the spirit antichrist. We are calling our pastors back to their Covenant duties. We’re getting back to preaching Faith, Fidelity, and Family.
