St. Xavier’s Convent School, Kathua proudly celebrated its 21st Annual Sports Meet with great zeal & enthusiasm. The Chief Guests Mr. Mayank Sharma, JKAS (Under Secretary Lok Bhawan, J&K) & Mr. Hitesh Kumar Loona, JKAS (Block Development Officer, Bani), both are Alumni of the school, the Guests of Honour Mr. Vikram Saini, Flying Officer Air Force, Australia also an Alumnus of the school and Rev. Fr. Biju Mathew (Thomas), Former Principal and at present, Principal, Holy Cross Convent Hr. Sec. School, R.S. Pura, Jammu were welcomed by the Principal Fr. Joshy George Mathew., the Vice-Principal Lizbeth & the Coordinator Fr. Bhagya Raju and others. The sports meet begins with Welcome speech by worthy Principal, Fr. Joshy George Mathew, Principal of the school. The function started with lighting of Mashaal by Chief Guests, Guest of Honours, Special Guests, Principal, Vice-Principal, Coordinator and others followed by the March Past by the students of different houses led by the House Captains. The Sports Meet inaugurated by the worthy Chief Guests, Guests of Honour and Principal with release of colourful Balloons and officially declared the Sports Meet open. The track events like 100 mtrs race, 200 mtrs race, 800m race, 1500m race, 4x100 mtrs relay race etc. were conducted under the different categories under - 14 (Boys & Girls) Under - 17 (Boys & Girls), Under – 19 (Boys & Girls). The sprawling venue, adorned with colourful banners and flags, buzzed with anticipation. The enthusiasm was palpable as the young Xavierians geared up for a day of intense competition. The track participants showed full josh and enthusiasm while running. All parents and guests also applauded their efforts in track events. Winners of each event in different categories were felicitated with Gold, Silver & Bronze medals by Chief Guests, Guests of Honour, Special Guests and other. The sports meet also included a series of thematic performances ranging from devotion to family values patriotism, parental love, dances in different languages etc. The show included most of the students of the school in the spectacular performance enriched with rich music, costume and dance. The dances like Cheer Dance, Folk Dance and Bhangra etc. were mesmerizing and heart touching. Everyone praised each and every item displayed by the students including Yoga & Karate. The chief guest applauded the efforts put in by the school management, teachers and students in his address. He in his address motivated the young generation to take part in Sports and Games in their daily life. The Guest of Honour Mr. Vikram Saini (Alumnus) also thanked school authority for invitation. They also motivated the students to actively take part in games and sports activities. The program concluded with National Anthem.
