HOTEL CARPET ASTRONOMY (1972) Hotel Carpet Astronomy is a nocturnal psychedelic jazz and jazz-funk journey inspired by the strange elegance of early-1970s hotel lounges, dim corridors and sleepless city nights. Built around Fender Rhodes, vibraphone, tenor saxophone, wah-wah guitar, warm electric bass, Hammond organ, clavinet and soft vintage drums, the album drifts between smoky grooves, modal improvisation and slow cinematic passages. Across ten tracks, the record moves through empty elevators, late-night rooms, neon reflections, distant saxophones and the quiet hum of a city after midnight. The sound is warm, hazy and slightly surreal — like discovering an obscure 1972 recording playing somewhere inside an old hotel long after everyone has gone to sleep.
