Epilogue: The owner of this machine did come back to pick it up and she tested sewed on it and approved of the stitch quality that I had restored to a machine almost given up on! This video highlights what happened when a prior repair attempt actually damaged the machine. One lesson from this experience is that we should always remember to go slow and not rush when learning to work on a sewing machine.
