Physicians and surgeons from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia explain how in some babies an opening between the upper two chambers of the heart needs to be created quickly after birth. They describe the Rashkind procedure, which was invented at CHOP, to create an opening that allows mixing of blue and red blood.
