Don’t Buy BattleTech Mechs Until You Watch This - ilClan Edition

You walk into a game store, see a wall of BattleTech boxes, and every Mech looks tempting. But if you want a collection that stays useful across different factions, some chassis give you far more flexibility than others. For the ilClan era, I went back to the Master Unit List and checked the major Inner Sphere houses, mercenaries, minor Inner Sphere states, Periphery factions and Pirates to find the BattleMech chassis shared across all of them. The result is 39 ilClan-era Universal Chassis. In this video: • The six BattleMechs that appeared in every single faction group we checked • Why the Kell Hounds, Wolf’s Dragoons and Scorpion Empire are treated separately • The full list of 39 Universal Chassis for the ilClan era • What happened to the 45 Universal Chassis from the previous video • The 19 that fell off the list • The 13 new chassis that joined it • Why some classics like the Catapult and Hunchback are no longer technically universal • How to use the list when deciding what to add to your collection This is an availability study, not a frequency study. A chassis appearing on more faction lists does not necessarily mean it is fielded more often in-universe. And as always: this is BattleTech. Salvage and trade are an integral part of the setting, so any Mech can end up anywhere.
