This time I tried scales I don’t usually use, and writing with them was actually kind of counterintuitive for me, like I barely used the natural 4, the minor dominant, or subdominant chords that I normally rely on, suffocating… And the two “全献给她 (All dedicated to her)” lines in the chorus have subtly different melodies—in the first line, the “全 (All)” is lowered by a semitone, but it surprisingly flows really well when put together Other than that, I tried blending electric guitar with electronic drums this time. The guitar recording was super satisfying too—the first chorus has two electric guitars tracks, and the second has four with a wider stereo image, so I straight-up switched the snr to hold it up. But the most was Yan He’s “承受吧 (Endure it)” section—that part has six guitar tracks, hhh And I also held myself back from using piano and strings—if I decided to challenge my own habits this time, I had to stick with it to the end; so actually the chorus originally had an orchestral section, but one look at the guitar and I deleted it, just like that Overall, this one felt like a bit of a challenge for me—writing music is so satisfying!
