Far Cry 6 is a 2021 first-person shooter (FPS) action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth main installment in the Far Cry series and the sequel to 2018's Far Cry 5. It was released on October 7, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Main Plot and Characters The game is set on Yara, a fictional Caribbean island inspired by Cuba and ruled ruthlessly by a dictator named "El Presidente" Antón Castillo (portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito). While ruling the regime with an iron fist, Castillo is also grooming his son, Diego (Anthony Gonzalez), to follow in his footsteps. Players control Dani Rojas, a fully voiced guerrilla fighter who struggles to overthrow this fascist regime and liberate Yara. Key Gameplay Mechanics Guerrilla Camps and Amigos: Players can build camp facilities to upgrade character skills and manage new equipment. Similar to the companion system in previous entries of the series, the game features "Amigos"—pet companions (such as a crocodile or a dog) that assist the player in combat. Outpost Raids and Notoriety System: Clearing military outposts spread across Yara reduces enemy control. Due to the newly added notoriety mechanic, special forces will hunt down the player if they draw too much attention through high-profile actions against enemies.
